JACKIE ROBINSON DAY

PLAYING FOR 42

Jackie Robinson Day is one of the most important days of the year, as the life and legacy of the man who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier is celebrated leaguewide.

In 2021, over 250 MLB players, coaches, and staff of all races and backgrounds donated their full or partial game-day salary to the Players Alliance in support of our efforts, using their platform and resources to show support for racial equity in our game and in our society.

On this day, we are honored that so many chose to play for change, as baseball will forever be indebted to one of the greatest to ever put on a pair of spikes. Jackie navigated the most unimaginable hardships with the utmost character and grace, showing generations of ballplayers to come that anything is possible.

Jackie’s pursuit of BREAKING BARRIERS continues to inspire today, and we remain relentless in our charge to change the trajectory of diversity in our sport. Here’s to you, Mr. Robinson.
